About the AU Steel Sections Library

The AU Steel Sections Library is a free reference platform for structural steel sections used in Australia and New Zealand, together with practical calculators for weight, surface area, painting, built-up sections, comparison, equivalence and bills of materials.

How the data is organised

Every section is stored as an individual XML file. Section geometry is kept separate from steel grade data, and grades are only shown where an association has been defined.

Verification status

• VERIFIED – checked against the cited publisher document and page.
• CALCULATED – derived by this application from other values (e.g. properties from nominal dimensions).
• UNVERIFIED – entered but not yet checked against the cited source.
• DEPRECATED – superseded or withdrawn; kept for reference.
• NOT_APPLICABLE – the value does not apply to this section type.
